The protective cap plays a double role in protecting your pH and ORP probe. It ensures that your electrode stays moist and it forms a physical barrier that protects the probe.<\/p>\n<p>Fill the protective cap with <a href=\"\/en-mt\/buffer-solutions\/kcl-storage-solution\/\">KCl storage solution 3 mol\/l<\/a>. It is the same kind of salt solution as the reference electrolyte in the electrode itself. As a result, the ion balance stays stable and no KCl is drawn out of the electrode.<\/p>\n<p>Never store your electrode in demineralised water or any other liquid.<\/p>\n<h3>Practical<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Rinse the electrode briefly with clean water after measuring.<\/li>\n<li>Fill the protective cap with storage solution until the glass bulb and the junction are submerged.<\/li>\n<li>Close it tightly and store the electrode upright.<\/li>\n<li>Check from time to time whether the solution is still clear; replace it if it becomes cloudy.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>White salt crystals around the protective cap are normal. That is KCl crystallising out. Simply rinse with tap water.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Protect the delicate sensor of your probes against drying out and damage.
