TDS/EC meter

The Meytec TDS/EC meter is a compact handheld meter, dust-tight and resistant to water jets (IP65), for accurate measurements of conductivity (EC) and TDS. Measuring range EC 0–20,000 µS/cm and TDS 0–10,000 ppm. With integrated temperature sensor (0–50 °C).

Please note: this is a TDS/EC meter, not the salt tester for salt electrolysis swimming pools. For salt content in the swimming pool: pool salt tester.

Ideal for hydroponics, water treatment, aquarium, pond and laboratory. Always calibrate with a conductivity standard (not a pH buffer solution).

Main specifications

  • Measuring range EC: 0 – 20,000 µS/cm (0.00 – 20.00 mS/cm)
  • Measuring range TDS: 0 – 10,000 ppm
  • Measuring range temperature: 0 – 50 °C
  • Accuracy: ±2 %
  • Protection rating: IP65 (dust-tight, resistant to water jets)
  • Power supply: 4× LR44 (included)
  • Battery indicator: yes

Applications

  • Hydroponics & growing – checking the conductivity of the nutrient solution
  • Water treatment – monitoring demineralised water, osmosis water or process water
  • Aquarium & pond – measuring the mineral concentration
  • Laboratory – fast and reliable EC/TDS measurements

EC vs TDS – what is the difference?

EC (Electrical Conductivity) is the measured conductivity of the water in µS/cm or mS/cm. This is the direct, objective measurement.

TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) is a converted estimate of the total dissolved substances in ppm. The meter converts the EC value to TDS.

For the most accurate results, we recommend looking mainly at the EC value and calibrating with a conductivity standard.

How do you calibrate the TDS/EC meter?

  1. Always use a fresh conductivity standard (e.g. 1413 µS/cm).
  2. Follow the calibration instructions of the meter.
  3. Never pour used standard back into the bottle.

Calibrate regularly for the most accurate results. Use our conductivity standards.

Maintenance

Rinse the sensor after use with demineralised water or tap water and dry it. Store the meter dry. Put the protective cap back on.

Frequently asked questions about the TDS/EC meter

Is this meter the same as the salt tester?

No. This is not the salt tester. This TDS/EC meter is intended for general conductivity and TDS (hydroponics, aquarium, water treatment). The pool salt tester is specifically calibrated for salt content in salt electrolysis swimming pools.

How do I calibrate the meter?

Use a fresh conductivity standard (not a pH buffer solution). Follow the instructions of the meter.

Is the meter waterproof?

Yes. The housing is IP65 certified and suitable for use in damp environments.

Does this meter also measure temperature?

Yes. The meter has an integrated temperature sensor (0–50 °C).
