Pool salt tester
Optimal chlorine production in your salt electrolysis pool starts with a correct salt content. Our GT-500S salt tester quickly measures the salt content from 0 to 10,000 ppm (0–10 gram/l). Built-in thermometer and automatic calibration. IP65. Batteries 4× LR44 included.
Where you use this salt tester
- Swimming pool: A quick salt content measurement is needed for salt electrolysis to work. Too little salt: too little chlorine. Too much salt: extra load on the installation. Most systems work at around 3 to 5 grams of salt per litre (3000–5000 ppm). The exact range is in the manual of your electrolysis system.
- Spa: Same application: the right salt content for disinfection and water quality.
Calibration and maintenance
Calibrate the meter before first use and regularly after that, or after a long period of inactivity.
- Calibration: Use conductivity standard 12880 µS/cm. Place the sensor in the solution and press CAL for 5 to 6 seconds. Wait until the value stops changing. Never pour used solution back into the bottle.
- Cleaning: Rinse the sensor with clean water after use and between measurements. Demineralised water may be used for rinsing, never for storage.
- Storage: Store the salt tester dry, with the protective cap on the sensor. Tighten the battery cap and sensor firmly, otherwise the IP65-rating is lost.
Conductivity standard 12880 µS/cm for the salt tester
For your pool salt tester GT-500S, choose 12880 µS/cm in a 20 ml sachet or a 60 ml bottle. With one 60 ml bottle you can calibrate several times, as long as the solution does not become contaminated.
